Art & Nature ist ein alljährlich stattfindendes Kulturprojekt im öffentlichen Raum der Stadt Meran und Umgebung, welches den Dialog zwischen Kunst und Natur im städtischen Raum fördert.
Die zweite Ausgabe von Art & Nature, kuratiert von BAU, steht unter dem Titel Walking with Senses und findet vom 24. März bis zum 5. Juni 2016 in Meran und den umliegenden Ortschaften Dorf Tirol, Naturns und Schenna statt. Das Kuratorenteam hat internationale Künstler, Performer, Architekten, Designer und Tänzer eingeladen, in einen künstlerischen Dialog mit unseren Stadt- und Naturlandschaften zu treten und neue Formen vorzuschlagen, dass Territorium jenseits der dualistischen Trennung zwischen Natur und Kultur, Stadt und Land, Straße und Gehweg, Einheimische und Gäste, Mensch und Tier, Tag und Nacht zu entdecken.
Der Betrachter wird angeregt, durch die Netzinstallation Tube Meran zu gehen oder zu kriechen, das vom Künstlerkollektiv Numen/For Use zwischen Bäumen geschaffen wird; auf der Blue Wave von Andreas Angelidakis Platz zu nehmen, oder auf einem fein polierten Stein von Tue Greenfort der Natur zu lauschen (Listen to Nature).
In It’s normal that reality happens (these games will fall apart) lädt Kristina Buch zu einem unbekannten Spiel auf einem von Marmor markierten Feld ein. My Boy, with such Boots, we may Hope to Travel Far von Alvaro Urbano besteht aus Betonrunen, die einem Kryptogramm entstammen und zu einer Neuentdeckung der Landschaft einladen. Nanna Debois Buhl untersucht in ihrem Beitrag Trajectories of the Trachycarpus Fortunei die Palme als charakteristisches Merkmal der einzigartigen Landschaft und Flora Merans, und erkundet sie auf visueller, botanischer, historischer und kultureller Ebene. Bewegten Körpern begegnet man in Manuel Pelmuş und Alexandra Pirici’s Projekt Untitled: Vier Akteure bewegen sich durch die Räume des Palais Mamming Museums und verkörpern Gegenstände und Materialien aus der Sammlung des Museums (10. bis 14. Mai). In Michael Fliri‘s Performance Returning from Places I have never been II in Merans Wandelhalle (22. April) durchläuft der Körper des Künstlers verschiedene Stadien der Transformation ins Fantastische und Futuristische. Begleitet werden die künstlerischen Interventionen von Angelo Plessas‘ Extropic Optimisms 2, ein von Landschaft, lokalen Ikonographien und vertrauten Symbolen der Internet-Kultur inspirierter Neon-Talisman, der positive Energie verbreiten soll.
Das Projekt zeigt eine Reihe von temporären und dauerhaft installierten Kunstwerken an öffentlichen Plätzen sowie an den Gehwegen, welche die verschiedenen Orte miteinander verbinden. Ein Programm von Performances, einem Workshop und geführten Kunst-Spaziergängen (Walking with Senses Tours) begleitet die Projekte und erweitert somit die Erfahrung der Besucher.
Art & Nature 2016 Walking with Senses ist Teil des Festivals “Meraner Frühling” und findet auf Initiative der Stadtgemeinde Meran und der Kurverwaltung Meran statt. Partner des Projektes sind die Tourismusverein Naturns, Schenna und Dorf Tirol sowie die Firma Alperia.
Das booklet, welches zum Projekt erscheint sowie die grafische Identität stammen von An Endless Supply, Birmingham und Nicolas Burrows.

Art & Nature is an annual cultural project that takes place in South Tyrol, Italy, in the city of Merano and surrounding villages of Naturno, Scena, and Tirolo, aimed at fostering the dialogue between artistic production and nature during the spring season.
Walking with Senses, the second edition of Art & Nature, will take place between the 24th of March and the 5th of June 2016, and is curated by BAU. BAU invited international artists, performers, architects, designers, and dancers to dialogue with the urbannatural landscapes of the region and to propose new ways of discovering the territory as a continuum, without there being any dualistic divisions between nature and culture, city and countryside, street and path, local and foreigner, human and animal, herbs and herds, day and night.
The invited artists have created a series of specially-commissioned nine projects in which art becomes a form of engaging in multisensorious experiences that permeate and activate the various senses of our bodies. Visitors are invited to discover other forms of being, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling, and seeing the world.
Art & Nature 2016 invites visitors to traverse the huge Tube Meran, suspended between the trees by the collective Numen/For Use; to stand on Andreas Angelidakis’s Blue Wave, or to Listen to Nature on a polished granite stone created by Tue Greenfort.
In It’s normal that reality happens. (these games will fall apart), Kristina Buch invites us to play an unknown game in a gamefield confined by marble stones.
We’ll follow My Boy, with such Boots, we may Hope to Travel Far, by Alvaro Urbano, a cryptogram of concrete runes that lead us into a new discovery of the landscape.
Nanna Debois Buhl explores, in a wallpaper and publication, the unique presence of the palm tree in Merano’s landscape via Trajectories of the Trachycarpus Fortunei.
Moving bodies are encountered in Manuel Pelmuş and Alexandra Pirici’s project, where five performers relate to the spaces of the Palais Mamming Museum by enacting and embodying objects and materials from the museum’s collection (10-14 May).
Or in Michael Fliri’s performance Returning from Places I have never been II (22 April) at the Wandelhalle, in which the artist’s body undergoes different stages of transformation into the fantastic and futuristic.
These initiatives are accompanied by the positive energies of Extropic Optimisms 2, Angelo Plessas’s neon talisman inspired by the landscape, local iconographies and familiarized symbols of internet culture.
Most artworks are located in public spaces and are freely accessible during the entire duration of the initiative. The whole initiative is accompanied by a program of talks, walks, and performances.
Art & Nature 2016 Walking with Senses is part of the Merano Spring Festival. It is initiated by the Municipality of Merano and the Tourist Office Merano and realized in partnership with the Tourist Offices of Naturno, Scena and Tirolo as well as the support of Alperia.

Per Walking with Senses, seconda edizione di Arte & Nature, il team curatoriale BAU ha invitato artisti, performer, architetti e designer internazionali ad interagire e dialogare con le caratteristiche peculiari del territorio di Merano e dintorni, proponendo nuovi scambi e forme di incontro tra natura, arte e paesaggio.
Arte & Nature si struttura come una mostra a cielo aperto, basandosi sulla commissione e presentazione di un insieme di opere d’arte permanenti e temporanee negli spazi pubblici della città di Merano e nei paesi circostanti di Naturno, Scena e Tirolo, così come lungo i cammini che li connettono. Insieme alle istallazioni, un programma pubblico di performance, un workshop e una serie di passeggiate completa ed estende l’esperienza dei visitatori.
Walking with Senses propone dei nuovi modi per scoprire e relazionarsi con il paesaggio, in un continuum libero dalle rigorose divisioni dualistiche di natura e cultura, città e campagna, strada e sentiero, locale e straniero, umano e animale, giorno e notte.
Attraversando le nove opere specificamente commissionate, il pubblico sarà invitato ad arrampicarsi all’interno dell’imponente Tube Meran, installazione sospesa tra gli alberi dal collettivo Numen/For Use e a porsi sulla Blue Wave, scultura abitabile dalla sagoma di un’onda di Andreas Angelidakis. Si potrà inoltre ascoltare la natura, soffermandosi sui grandi massi che costituiscono l’opera di Tue Greenfort, Listen to Nature, che l’artista ha disposto a Scena e lungo Corso Libertà nel centro cittadino di Merano.

(these games will fall apart), Kristina Buch crea un gioco misterioso all’interno di un campo segnato da eleganti lastre di marmo, mentre Alvaro Urbano con My Boy, with such Boots, we may Hope to Travel Far creerà un crittogramma capace di svelare un nuovo paesaggio, usando un susseguirsi di rune.
Con Trajectories of the Trachycarpus Fortunei, Nanna Debois Buhl metterà in evidenza la presenza unica della palma nel paesaggio Alto Atesino attraverso una pubblicazione e un grande wallpaper sul muro del Castello Kallmünz, in centro a Merano.
Le opere nelle spazio si contrappongono a una serie performance. Dal 10 al 14 maggio il progetto coreografico di Manuel Pelmuş e Alexandra Pirici esplorerà il rapporto tra corpo umano e materiali naturali attraverso le azioni realizzate da quattro performers che si relazioneranno con gli spazi del Museo di Palais Mamming, il museo civico di Merano, incarnando oggetti e materiali presenti nella collezione.
Il 22 aprile alla Wandelhalle a Merano, Michael Fliri presenterà la performance Returning from Places I have never been II, in cui il corpo dell’artista passerà attraverso vari stadi di trasformazione, diventando un essere fantastico e futuristico.
Tutte le iniziative saranno accompagnate dalle energie positive diffuse da Naturno, dove si trova Extropic Optimisms 2, un talismano-neon creato da Angelo Plessas e ispirato al paesaggio, all’ iconografia locale e ai simboli affini alla cultura di Internet.
Art & Nature è un progetto culturale annuale nell’ambito del festival “Primavera Meranese”, che ha luogo nella città di Merano e nei suoi dintorni. Art & Nature è volto a stabilire un dialogo tra la produzione artistica e la natura nel contesto urbano.
A partire dall’iniziativa del Comune di Merano, Art & Nature, ha visto la collaborazione tra la città, l’Azienda di Soggiorno e un gruppo di lavoro. La sua produzione è a cura di Merano Arte. Partner del progetto sono le associazioni di turismo di Naturno, Scena e Tirolo. Art & Nature 2016 viene sostenuto da Alperia.
