Diese Ausgabe von Reading Rivers widmen wir dem Buch How to imagine, A narrative on art, agriculture and creativity über das utopische Projekt Agricola Cornelia S.p.a. (1973-1981), eine Landkommune im Norden von Rom, die Landwirtschaft und Kunst synergetisch verbinden sollte. Reading Rivers greift Baruchellos rhizomatische Art einen Ort zu denken und zu visualisieren auf und setzt die Stimmen von Martin und Baruchello in Verbindung mit Texten von der Künstlerin Emma Smith und der Anthropologin Anna Tsing, die den Ort als ein Geflecht von Beziehungen beschreiben. Wie kann uns Imagination helfen einen Ort als ein offenes Gefüge zu denken?

We dedicate this session of Reading Rivers, to the book How to Imagine, A Narrative on Art, Agriculture and Creativity, about the project Agricola Cornelia S.p.a., a rural utopian commune to the north of Rome, which worked from 1973 to ’81, to bring agriculture and art into synergy. Reading Rivers takes up Baruchello’s rhizomatic way of thinking and visualising place, and juxtaposes the voices of Baruchello and Martin with the texts of artist Emma Smith and anthropologist Anna Tsing, who both describe places as a web of relationships. How can imagination help us visualise a place as an open-ended structure or assemblage?

La settima edizione di Reading Rivers è dedicata al libro How to imagine, A narrative on art, agriculture and creativity sul progetto utopico Agricola Cornelia S.p.a. (1973-1981), una comune rurale a nord di Roma concepita per coniugare sinergicamente agricoltura e arte. Reading Rivers riprende il modo rizomatico di Baruchello di pensare e visualizzare un luogo e mette in relazione la sua voce e quella di Martin con testi dell’artista Emma Smith e dell’antropologa Anna Tsing che parlano di un territorio come rete di relazioni. Come può l’immaginazione aiutarci a pensare al luogo come a un sistema aperto?
