Künstler:innen
Die derzeitigen künstlerischen Projekte von ERBA setzen sich mit der Reaktivierung alter Techniken der Lebensmittelkonservierung und -lagerung auseinander. Zu den Projekten an denen ERBA arbeitet gehört das dauerhafte Kunstwerk im öffentlichen Raum für die Dogo Residenz für Neue Kunst und Toggenburg Tourismus in der Schweiz, das in Zusammenarbeit mit Lehm Ton Erde und Martin Rauch realisiert wird. Darüber hinaus forscht ERBA zur Obstgartenkultur und zu vergessenen Obstsorten für Nova Gorica und Gorizia, Europäische Kulturhauptstadt 2025, in Zusammenarbeit mit Robida Collective (IT).
Aufbauend auf ihrer Forschung zu Süßgräsern entwickelt ERBA zudem in Friesland für die Stiftung VHDG (NL) pastorale Kultur und Käseherstellung aus einer pflanzlichen Perspektive.
Zur Tätigkeit von ERBA gehört die Entwicklung von Workshops sowie Bildungsprogrammen für Organisationen in unterschiedlichen Bereichen, darunter der Design Campus Dresden (DE), die Landwirtschaftsschule Plantahof (CH) und die Tourismusregion Klagenfurt (AT).
Suzanne Bernhardt ist Künstlerin, Gestalterin und dabei ihre Müllerinnen Ausbildung abzuschließen. Sie begreift die starken Winde und wechselnden Gezeiten der nördlichen Niederlande als Zeugen einer Transformation, die sich zugleich langsam und schnell vollzieht. Sie verwebt Gräser – ähnlich wie die Erkenntnisse, die sie auf ihren nahen und fernen Reisen gesammelt hat –, im Bemühen, die komplexen Beziehungen zu verstehen, in die wir auf dieser Erde verwoben sind. In der Frage, wie diese Beziehungen verdaulich und greifbar werden könnten, bringt Suzanne in ERBA eine Reflexion über Routinen und Rituale ein, die diese intimen Akte der Fürsorge in den Alltag tragen können.
Philipp Kolmann hat eine Design Ausbildung und hat als Koch, Schäfer und handwerklicher Käsemacher gearbeitet. Er wuchs am Fuße der Alpen auf, eingebettet zwischen den Weiden und Seen Kärntens und dem Wissen, das seine Großmutter ihm über beides vermittelte. Philipp bereichert ERBA mit seiner Aufmerksamkeit für die großen wie die kleinen Dinge, jahrelanger Erfahrung und der Fähigkeit, Wege zu imaginieren, dieses Wissen mit anderen zu teilen – sowie mit einer unerschütterlichen Hingabe daran, Bedingungen zu schaffen, in denen Leben gedeihen kann.
Im Jahr 2026 wird ERBA als Gastkünstler*in einen Monat im kleinen Weiler Aschbach verbringen und dort das Ökoton – den Übergang zwischen Wald und Wiese – als Schwellenraum erforschen, um durch Akte des Schaffens, Kochens und des geselligen Zusammenseins neue Formen des Lebens zu imaginieren.
Pastoral Twilight: Initiatives for rural cultures ist ein zweijähriges Projekt, kofinanziert von der Europäischen Union.

ERBA’s current artistic projects engage with the reactivation of ancient techniques of food preservation and storage. Among the projects ERBA is working on is a permanent artwork in public space for the Dogo Residence for New Art and Toggenburg Tourismus in Switzerland, realized in collaboration with Lehm Ton Erde and Martin Rauch. In addition, ERBA is researching orchard culture and forgotten fruit varieties for Nova Gorica and Gorizia, European Capital of Culture 2025, in collaboration with Robida Collective (IT).
Building on its research into sweet grasses, ERBA is also developing, in Friesland, a project for the VHDG Foundation (NL) that explores pastoral culture and cheese-making from a plant-based perspective.
ERBA’s activities further include the development of workshops and educational programs for organizations across different fields, including Design Campus Dresden (DE), the Plantahof School of Agriculture (CH), and the Klagenfurt tourism region (AT).
Suzanne Bernhardt is an artist and designer and is currently completing her training as a miller. She understands the strong winds and shifting tides of the northern Netherlands as witnesses to a transformation unfolding both slowly and rapidly at the same time. She weaves grasses—much like the insights she has gathered on her near and distant journeys—in an effort to understand the complex relationships in which we are entangled on this earth. In asking how these relationships might become digestible and tangible, Suzanne brings to ERBA a reflection on routines and rituals that can carry these intimate acts of care into everyday life.
Philipp Kolmann has a background in design and has worked as a cook, shepherd, and artisanal cheesemaker. He grew up at the foot of the Alps, surrounded by the pastures and lakes of Carinthia and by the knowledge his grandmother passed on to him about both. Philipp enriches ERBA with his attentiveness to both the big and the small things, years of experience, and his ability to imagine ways of sharing this knowledge with others—along with an unwavering dedication to creating conditions in which life can thrive.
In 2026, ERBA will be artist-in-residency and will spend a month in the small hamlet of Aschbach, exploring the ecotone, where the forest meets the meadow, as a threshold for reimagining living through acts of creation, cooking, and conviviality.

Gli attuali progetti artistici di ERBA si concentrano sulla riattivazione di antiche tecniche di conservazione e stoccaggio degli alimenti. Tra i progetti su cui ERBA sta lavorando figura un’opera d’arte permanente nello spazio pubblico per la Residenza Dogo per la Nuova Arte e Toggenburg Tourismus in Svizzera, realizzata in collaborazione con Lehm Ton Erde e Martin Rauch. Philipp Kolmann ha una formazione in design e ha lavorato come cuoco, pastore e casaro artigianale. È cresciuto ai piedi delle Alpi, immerso tra i pascoli e i laghi della Carinzia, insieme al sapere che sua nonna gli ha trasmesso su entrambi. Philipp arricchisce ERBA con la sua attenzione per le cose grandi e per quelle piccole, con anni di esperienza e con la capacità di immaginare modi per condividere questo sapere con gli altri – oltre a una dedizione incrollabile nel creare le condizioni in cui la vita possa prosperare.
Nel 2026, ERBA sarà artista-in-residenza a BAU e trascorrerà un mese nel piccolo borgo di Aschbach, esplorando l’ecotono – il punto d’incontro tra bosco e prato – come soglia per reimmaginare il vivere attraverso atti di creazione, cucina e convivialità.
