Nach einem internationalen Open Call wurde ERBA unter 97 Berwerbungen für die BAU Residency 2026 ausgewählt. Die residency findet im Rahmen des Projekts Pastoral Twilight statt.
ERBA, gegründet von Philipp Kolmann (AT, 1989) und Suzanne Bernhardt (NL, 1988), ist ein mehr-als-menschliches Kollektiv, das Geschichten, Ökologien und kulinarische Praktiken miteinander verwebt, um Fürsorge mit Orten und Ritualen neu zu denken. Ausgehend von der Überzeugung, dass Landschaften lebendige Archive sind, würdigt ihre Praxis Pflanzenwissen, die Solidarität verschiedener Lebensformen und die subtilen Rituale, die Beziehungen über Zeit hinweg tragen. Durch Projekte, die von der Wiederbelebung traditioneller Konservierungstechniken bis hin zur Pflege von Obstgartenkulturen reichen, schaffen sie ortsspezifische Interventionen – gemeinsame Mahlzeiten, kollektive Fermentationen, geflochtene Unterstände –, die den Ökotonen zwischen Wald und Lichtung, Hof und Wiese, Vergangenheit und Zukunft Aufmerksamkeit schenken.
Während ihrer Residency wird ERBA Zeit im kleinen Weiler Aschbach verbringen und den Ökoton zwischen Wald und Wiese erforschen – als Schwelle, um das Wohnen durch gemeinsames Herstellen, Essen und Bewegen neu zu imaginieren. Inspiriert von einst in den Taschen getragenen Lebensmitteln der Hirten und den Weidemustern von Tieren unter Obstbäumen werden sie haltbare, tragbare Lebensmittel entwickeln und temporäre Behausungen errichten, während sie die Landschaft durchwandern. Aufbauend auf ihrer derzeitigen Recherche zu Obstgartenkulturen und traditionellen Methoden zur Konservierung von Lebensmitteln, wollen sie verstehen, wie lebensmittelbasierte Praktiken und verkörperte Formen des Wohnens als Methoden dienen können, um ökologische und kulturelle Veränderungen in Südtirols sich wandelnder pastoraler Landschaft wahrzunehmen und darauf zu reagieren.

After an international open call ERBA has been selected for the BAU Residency 2026 held as part of the Pastoral Twilight project.
Founded by Philipp Kolmann (AT, 1989) and Suzanne Bernhardt (NL, 1988), ERBA is a more-than-human collective that weaves together histories, ecologies, and cuisines to reimagine care through place and ritual. Rooted in the belief that landscapes are living archives, their practice honors plant wisdom, multispecies solidarity, and the subtle rituals that sustain relationships across time. Through projects ranging from the revival of ancestral food-preservation techniques to the cultivation of orchard culture, they create site-specific interventions—shared meals, communal fermentations, woven shelters—that attend to the ecotones between forest and clearing, farm and meadow, past and future.
During their residency ERBA will spend time in the small hamlet Aschbach / Rio Lagundo and will explore the ecotone where forest meets meadow as a threshold for reimagining dwelling through acts of making, eating, and moving together. Inspired by pastoral foods once carried in pockets and by the grazing patterns of animals beneath orchards, they will craft lasting, portable foods and establish temporary dwellings as they traverse the landscape. Drawing on their ongoing research into orchard cultures and ancestral preservation techniques, they aim to understand how food-based practices and embodied forms of dwelling can serve as methods for perceiving and responding to ecological and cultural change in South Tyrol’s transforming pastoral landscape.

A esito di una call internazionale, ERBA è stato selezionato tra le 97 candidature per la BAU Residency 2026, organizzata nell’ambito del progetto Pastoral Twilight.
Fondato da Philipp Kolmann (AT, 1989) e Suzanne Bernhardt (NL, 1988), ERBA è un collettivo più-che-umano che intreccia storie, ecologie e pratiche culinarie per ripensare la cura attraverso il luogo e il rituale. Partendo dalla convinzione che i paesaggi siano archivi viventi, la loro pratica valorizza la saggezza delle piante, la solidarietà multispecie e i rituali sottili che sostengono le relazioni nel tempo. Attraverso progetti che spaziano dalla riscoperta di tecniche ancestrali di conservazione alla coltivazione di culture legate ai frutteti, realizzano interventi site-specific – pasti condivisi, fermentazioni collettive, ripari intrecciati – che si dedicano agli ecotoni tra bosco e radura, fattoria e prato, passato e futuro.
Durante la loro residenza, ERBA trascorrerà del tempo nel piccolo borgo di Rio Lagundo esplorando l’ecotono in cui il bosco incontra il prato come soglia per reimmaginare l’abitare attraverso il fare, il mangiare e il muoversi insieme. Ispirandosi ai cibi pastorali un tempo portati in tasca e ai modelli di pascolo degli animali sotto i frutteti, realizzeranno alimenti durevoli e portatili e costruiranno dimore temporanee attraversando il paesaggio. Basandosi sulle loro ricerche in corso sulle culture del frutteto e sulle tecniche ancestrali di conservazione, mirano a comprendere come pratiche alimentari e forme di abitare vissute attraverso il corpo possano servire come metodi per percepire e rispondere ai cambiamenti ecologici e culturali nel paesaggio pastorale in trasformazione dell’Alto Adige.
