Eine Begegnung zwischen Seiten und Blättern. Die Futurefarmers laden bei einer gemeinsamen Wanderung von Halbweg durch den Wald und anschließender Lesung im Hotel Amazonas in das Pluri-Versum ihres neuen Buches voller magischer, zeit- und ortumspannender Begebenheiten und überraschender Konstellationen ein.
The Chestnut, the Sea Urchin & the Tuning of the Bells (Die Kastanie, der Seeigel und das Stimmen der Glocken) findet seine Form in einem kollektiv geschriebenen Märchen, das seinen Ausgang bei der Kastanie nimmt. Ihre subtile Präsenz in der Südtiroler Landschaft ist mit starken Traditionen der Bergbevölkerung verwoben.
In vielschichtigen Handlungssträngen werden im Märchen (lokal)historische, zeitgenössische und magische Assoziationen zwischen Berglandschaft und prähistorischen Unterwasserlandschaften, dem Amazonas in den Alpen, Wanderkrämern, Hexen und kleinen Formen von Landwirtschaft gesponnen. Dabei werden Machtstrukturen, Mythen und Geschlechterrollen sowie das Format des Märchens selber herausgefordert und auf den Kopf gestellt.
Aus dem Ergebnis der mehrmonatigen Recherche vor Ort und aus der Distanz entsteht ein Buch nicht nur für junge Leser*innen und eine Serie von öffentlichen Präsentationen:
“Die Schwerkraft, Protagonistin der Geschichte, zieht uns in Beziehung zu den Bewohner*innen der höheren Lagen des alpinen „Amazonasgebietes“. Durch Besuche vor Ort bei Bäuerinnen und Bauern, Anthropolog*innen, einem Glockenschmied und Historiker*innen, kombiniert mit Archivrecherchen und dem Dialog mit „fernen“ Stimmen, schöpft die Erzählung aus lokalen Realitäten, die über Raum und Zeit hinweg in andere weltumspannende Kontexte hineinwirken.”

An Encounter between pages and leaves. Futurefarmers invite you into the “pluri-verse” of their new publication during a joint hike from Halbweg through the forest followed by a reading at Hotel Amazonas.
The Chestnut, the Sea Urchin & the Tuning of the Bells is a co-authored wonder tale inspired by the chestnut. Its subtle presence in the South Tyrolean landscape is interwoven with strong mountain traditions.
Through parallel narrative lines, this tale around the chestnut tree creates both historical and magic associations between local mountain landscapes and prehistoric underwater landscapes. The Amazon reaches the Alps, itinerant hawkers encounter witches and small forms of agriculture in a multi-layered plot. Power structures, myths, and gender roles as well as the format of the fairy tale itself are challenged and turned upside down.
The result of several months of research in situ and at a distance will give rise to a book and a series of public presentations: “Gravity, the protagonist of our tale, pulls us into relation with the seminal inhabitants of the higher reaches of the Alpine Amazonas. Through site visits with farmers, anthropologists, bell makers and historians combined with archival research and contact with distant voices, the tale draws from potent local realities that resonate across space and time into other contexts.”

Un incontro tra pagine e foglie. Futurefamers vi invitano nel “pluri-verso” della loro nuova pubblicazione durante una camminata da Mezzavia attraverso la foresta . Seguirà una lettura al’ Hotel Amazonas.
The Chestnut, the Sea Urchin & the Tuning of the Bells è una fiaba concepita a più mani che prende ispirazione dalla castagna. La sua sottile presenza nel paesaggio altoatesino si intreccia con le forti tradizioni montane.
Attraverso linee narrative parallele, questo lavoro intorno al castagno intreccia associazioni storiche e fantastiche, tra paesaggi montani locali e paesaggi sottomarini preistorici. L’Amazzonia giunge nelle Alpi, escursionisti incontrano streghe e modelli di coltivazione sconosciuti, intesi per una produzione su piccola scala. Le strutture di potere, i miti e i ruoli di genere, così come il formato della fiaba stessa, sono messi in discussione, capovolti.
Il risultato di diversi mesi di ricerche in loco e a distanza darà vita a un libro e a una serie di restituzioni pubbliche: “La gravità, protagonista della storia, ci attrae verso un rapporto con gli abitanti delle altitudini più elevate della “regione amazzonica” alpina. Attraverso visite in loco a contadini, antropologi, un campanaro e storici, unite a ricerche d’archivio e al dialogo con voci “lontane”, la narrazione attinge da realtà locali che trascendono lo spazio e il tempo per raggiungere altri contesti globali.”
