Künstlerin
Eva Koťátková’s (*1982, Prag) wohnt und arbeitet in Prag. Ihre Arbeit befasst sich mit den sozialen, institutionellen und physischen Strukturen des täglichen Lebens: den Regeln und Beschränkungen, die unser Denken, Lernen, Verhalten und Schaffen bestimmen. In den Mittelpunkt ihrer Arbeiten treten öfters Gruppen oder Individuen, die aus verschiedenen Gründen ausgeschlossen, diskriminiert oder zum Verstummen gebracht werden. Sie hat unter anderem an folgenden Institutionen Einzelausstellung realisiert: 60. Biennale von Venedig (2024), Nottingham Contemporary (2023), Arter Foundation, Istanbul (2023). Außerdem hat sie an internationalen Gruppenausstellungen teilgenommen: documenta in Kassel (2022), 16. Istanbul Biennale (2019), JIWA: Jakarta Biennale (2017), Triennale des New Museum in New York (2015) und Ar/Ge Kunst in Bozen (2009).
Diesen Sommer wird Eva Koťátková einen Monat lang als Gastkünstlerin die Verflechtung der menschlichen und mehr als menschlichen Welt im Zusammenhang mit dem ehemaligen Kartäuserkloster im Schnalstal erforschen. Die diesjährige BAU Residency ist Teil des Projekts 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 Initiativen für ländliche Kulturen, das in Zusammenarbeit mit den Institutionen ARE: Woods (Tschechische Republik) und Inland (Spanien) durchgeführt wird.
Das Ergebnis dieser Arbeit wird in der Ausstellung Unteroberwasser (20. Juli – 31. August 2025) gezeigt, kuratiert von Simone Mair und Lisa Mazza (BAU), im Rahmen des Projekts Kunst in der Kartause in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturverein Schnals. Die Ausstellung wird am 19. Juli im historischen Kartäuserkloster in Schnalstal eröffnet und von einem öffentlichen Programm begleitet.

Eva Koťátková’s (*1982, Prague) lives and works in Prague. Her work addresses the social, institutional and physical structures of everyday life: the rules and restrictions which shape how we think, learn, behave and create. She often focuses on the situation of groups or individuals who are excluded, discriminated or silenced for various reasons. Her work has been the focus of solo exhibitions held at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024); Nottingham Contemporary (2023); Arter Foundation, Istanbul (2023). Among many other group shows, Eva Koťátková has participated in documenta, Kassel (2022); the 16th Istanbul Biennial (2019), JIWA: the Jakarta Biennial (2017), the New Museum’s Triennial, NY (2015); Ar/Ge Kunst, Bolzano (2009).
This summer, Eva Koťátková will spend a month as a guest artist exploring the interconnectedness of the human and more-than-human worlds, focusing on the historic Carthusian monastery in Val Senales. This year’s BAU residency is part of the project 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: Initiatives for rural cultures held in collaboration with ARE: Woods (Czech Republic) and Inland (Spain).
The result of this residency will be shown in the exhibition Unteroberwasser (20 July – 31 August 2025), curated by Simone Mair and Lisa Mazza (BAU), within the framework of the Kunst in der Kartause project in collaboration with Kulturverein Schnals. The exhibition will open on 19 July at the historic Carthusian monastery in Val Senales and will be accompanied by a public program.

La sua attenzione si concentra spesso sulla situazione di gruppi o individui che sono esclusi, discriminati o silenziati per varie ragioni. Quest’estate, Eva Koťátková trascorrerà un mese come artista ospite esplorando l’intreccio tra mondo umano e mondo più che umano nel contesto dell’ex monastero certosino della Val Senales. La residenza BAU di quest’anno fa parte del progetto 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 : Iniziative per le culture rurali realizzato in collaborazione con ARE: Woods (Repubblica Ceca) e Inland (Spagna).
Il risultato di questa residenza farà parte della mostra Unteroberwasser (20 luglio – 31 agosto 2025), a cura di Simone Mair e Lisa Mazza (BAU), nell’ambito del progetto Kunst in der Kartause, in collaborazione con il Kulturverein Schnals. L’inaugurazione della mostra avrà luogo il 19 luglio presso l’ex-monastero storico della Certosa della Val Senales e sarà accompagnata da un programma pubblico.
