Soziokulturelle Anthropologin und Forscherin
Elisabeth Tauber ist Anthropologin und Dekanin der Fakultät für Design und Künste an der Freien Universität Bozen. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf Marginalität und Nomadismus, verknüpft mit Fragen der Konstruktion von Raum, Zeit und Land. In ihren ethnografischen Arbeiten untersuchte sie familiäre Netzwerke der Sinti in Italien und in jüngerer Zeit mehr-als-menschliche Verflechtungen im Grasland Ökosysteme. Ihre Forschungsinteressen verbinden Erinnerungspraktiken mit postkolonialen Theorien. Sie ist Co-Koordinatorin des Malinowski Forum for Ethnography and Anthropology (MFEA) an der Freien Universität Bozen.
Vom 17. bis 19. Juli 2026 nahm Elisabeth Tauber auf Einladung von BAU als Referentin am Symposium „Grass Socialities“ teil. Diese grenzüberschreitende Veranstaltung fand im Adlergebirge (Orlické hory) in Tschechien statt. Das Thema und der Titel des Symposiums sind stark von Taubers 2024 erschienenem Artikel „Walking on Alpine Grass: Grass Socialities and Their Global Connections. Perspectives from the Alpine Anthropocene“ inspiriert.
Sociocultural anthropologist and researcher
Elisabeth Tauber is an anthropologist and Dean at the Faculty of Design and Art, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Her research focuses on marginality and nomadism, tie in with questions related to the construction of space, time and land(s). Her ethnographic work has explored Sinti family networks in Italy and, more recently, more-than-human entanglements in grassland environments. Her research interests connect mnemonic practices and postcolonial theories. She is co-coordinator of the Malinowski Forum for Ethnography and Anthropology (MFEA) at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
On 17 – 19. July 2026, on the invitation of BAU, Elisabeth Tauber participated as a contributor to the Grass Socialities Symposium, a cross-border event taking place in the Orlické Mountains in the Czech Republic. The symposium’s theme and title are strongly inspired by Tauber’s 2024 article “Walking on Alpine Grass: Grass Socialities and Their Global Connections. Perspectives from the Alpine Anthropocene.”

Antropologa socioculturale e ricercatrice
Elisabeth Tauber è antropologa e Preside della Facoltà di Design e Arti della Libera Università di Bolzano. La sua ricerca si concentra su marginalità e nomadismo, legati a questioni sulla costruzione dello spazio, del tempo e della terra. Il suo lavoro etnografico ha esplorato le reti familiari Sinti in Italia e, più recentemente, le relazioni “più che umane” nei ambienti di prateria.
I suoi interessi di ricerca collegano le pratiche mnemoniche alle teorie postcoloniali. È co-coordinatrice del Malinowski Forum for Ethnography and Anthropology (MFEA) presso la Libera Università di Bolzano.
Dal 17 al 19 luglio 2026, su invito di BAU, Elisabeth Tauber ha partecipato come relatrice al simposio „Grass Socialities“, un evento transfrontaliero svoltosi nei Monti Orlické, in Repubblica Ceca. Il tema e il titolo del simposio sono fortemente ispirati all’articolo di Tauber del 2024, “Walking on Alpine Grass: Grass Socialities and Their Global Connections. Perspectives from the Alpine Anthropocene”.
