Fotokünstler
Christian Martinelli war ein Fotokünstler. Zu seinen zahlreichen Projekten gehört die Entwicklung einerr großen Kamera, die Bilder von höchster Qualität produzierte und zu einem integralen Bestandteil seiner künstlerischen Praxis wurde. Dieser Cube, der aus einer Idee von Martinelli, Andrea Pizzini und Andrea Salvà entstand, kann als Ausdruck seines nomadischen Lebensstils betrachtet werden: ein 8 m² großer Kubus, den der Fotograf aus Meran auf seinen Reisen durch Europa mit sich führte.
Christian Martinelli (Meran, 1970 – Innsbruck, 2022) stellte in zahlreichen Ausstellungen in Italien und im Ausland aus; zu den jüngsten zählen jene im Museion in Bozen, im Fotoforum Innsbruck, im Foto Forum in Bozen, bei Kunst Meran und im Museum von Castelbuono. 2014 gründete er gemeinsam mit Andrea Salvà und anderen den Kulturverein 00A, der zum Ziel hat temporäre Ausstellungen, zur Förderung der analogen Fotografie und der zeitgenössischen Fotokultur zu realisieren.
Im Jahr 2023 kuratierten die Kuratorinnen von BAU Simone Mair und Lisa Mazza die Ausstellung Die Handlungsfähigkeit eines künstlerischen Nachlasses im Rahmen von „incontrare Christian Martinelli begegnen“ bei Kunst Meran. Von März bis September 2023 arbeitete BAU zudem an der Sicherung und Archivierung des Werks des Fotografen und Künstlers.
Art Photographer
Christian Martinelli was a master of the craft of image-making. Among his many projects, he developed a large camera capable of producing images of the highest quality, which became an integral part of his artistic practice. This Cube, born from an idea by Martinelli together with Andrea Pizzini and Andrea Salvà, can be considered an expression of his nomadic lifestyle: an 8 m² cube that the Merano-born photographer carried with him on his travels throughout Europe.
Christian Martinelli (Merano, 1970 – Innsbruck, 2022) exhibited in numerous shows in Italy and abroad; among the most recent were those at Museion in Bolzano, Fotoforum Innsbruck, Foto Forum in Bolzano, Merano Arte, and Civic Museum of Castelbuono. In 2014, he co-founded, together with Andrea Salvà and others, the cultural association 00A, conceived as a temporary space for exhibitions dedicated to promoting analog photography and contemporary photographic culture.
In 2023, BAU curators Simone Mair and Lisa Mazza curated the exhibition The Agency of an Artist’s Estate as part of the “incontrare Christian Martinelli begegnen” project at Merano Arte. From March to September 2023, BAU also worked on the inventory of the photographer and artist’s body of work.

Christian Martinelli è stato un artigiano dell’immagine. Tra i suoi numerosi progetti, ha realizzato una grande macchina fotografica capace di produrre immagini di altissima qualità, che è diventata parte integrante della sua pratica artistica. Questo Cube, nato da un’idea di Martinelli insieme, Andrea Pizzini e Andrea Salvà, può essere considerato espressione del suo stile di vita itinerante: un cubo di 8 m² che il fotografo meranese portava con sé nei suoi viaggi in Europa.
Christian Martinelli (Merano, 1970 – Innsbruck, 2022) ha esposto in numerose mostre in Italia e all’estero; tra le più recenti si ricordano quelle al Museion di Bolzano, al Fotoforum Innsbruck, al Foto Forum di Bolzano, a Merano Arte e al Museo Civico di Castelbuono. Nel 2014 ha co-fondato, insieme ad Andrea Salvà e altri, l’associazione culturale 00A, concepita come spazio temporaneo per eventi espositivi dedicati alla valorizzazione della fotografia analogica e della cultura fotografica contemporanea.
Nel 2023, le curatrici di BAU, Simone Mair e Lisa Mazza, hanno curato la mostra La possibilità d’azione di un lascito d’artista, nell’ambito del progetto “incontrare Christian Martinelli begegnen” a Merano Arte. Da marzo a settembre 2023, BAU ha inoltre lavorato alla messa in sicurezza e all’archiviazione dell’opera del fotografo e artista.
