Künstler
Caroline Profanter (*1985, Bozen) wohnt und arbeitet in Brüssel Ihre Kunst bewegt sich zwischen akusmatischen Kompositionen, live gespielter elektroakustischer Musik und Klanginstallationen, wobei sie dicht strukturierte Klanglandschaften und klangliche Erzählungen schafft. Sie beschäftigt sich mit räumlichen Hörsituationen, bei denen sie mit mehreren Lautsprechern und Rückkopplungssystemen arbeitet und sich mit der jeweiligen Umgebung auseinandersetzt. Sie ist Teil des künstlerischen Teams von Q-O2, einem Arbeitsraum für experimentelle Musik und Klangkunst in Brüssel. Ihre Arbeit war Teil der Gruppenausstellung Fort Biennale 01. Franzensfeste (2024) und sie hat bei zahlreichen internationalen Festivals performt: Sound of Stockholm Festival (2023), SOMA, Mexico City (2023) und Archipel Festival, Genf (2023).
Caroline Profanter nahm an der Ausstellung Unteroberwasser (20. Juli – 31. August 2025), kuratiert von Simone Mair und Lisa Mazza (BAU), im Rahmen des Projekts Kunst in der Kartause in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturverein Schnals.
Im Rahmen des öffentlichen Programms der Ausstellung leitete Caroline einen Workshop, der unsere Wahrnehmung von Klang und Vibration erforschte.
Inspiriert vom Leben der Kartäuser-Mönche – die das Schweigen bewusst praktizieren – stellte der Workshop eine zentrale Frage: Wie klang Stille früher, und wie klingt sie heute?
Durch den experimentellen Einsatz von Mikrofonen, Aufnahmegeräten und der akustischen Architektur des Raums sowie technischer Hilfsmittel wie Richtmikrofone eröffnete der Workshop neue Perspektiven auf das Zusammenspiel von Mensch, Klang und Raum. Die Teilnehmenden bauten Kontaktmikrofone, machten Feldaufnahmen und hörten anschließend gemeinsam die aufgenommenen Klänge von Karthaus an.
Der Workshop fand am 30.08.2025 in Zusammenarbeit mit BASIS Vinschgau Venosta statt.

Caroline Profanter (*1985, Bolzano) lives and works in Bruxelles. Her work oscillates between acousmatic compositions, live-performed electroacoustic music and sound installations, creating densely textured soundscapes and sonic narratives. She is interested in spatial listening situations, using multiple speaker settings and feedback-systems, working in-situ with the given environment. She is part of the artistic team of Q-O2 workspace of experimental music and sound art in Bruxelles. Her work was part of the group show Fort Biennale 01. , Fortezza / Franzensfeste (2024) and she performed at numerous international festivals: Sound of Stockholm Festival (2023); SOMA, Mexico City (2023); Archipel Festival, Geneva (2023).
As part of the exhibition public program, Caroline led a workshop exploring new ways of perceiving sound and vibration. Inspired by the lives of Carthusian monks—who practice a life of conscious silence—the workshop asked: How did silence sound in the past, and how does it sound today?
Through the experimental deployment of microphones, recording equipment and the acoustic architecture of the space, along with technical aids such as directional microphones, the workshop opened up new perspectives on the interplay of humans, sound and space. Participants built contact microphones, made field recordings, and then collectively listened to the captured sounds of Karthaus / Certosa. The workshop was realized on the 30.08.2025 In collaboration with BASIS Vinschgau Venosta.

Il suo lavoro oscilla tra composizioni acusmatiche, musica elettroacustica eseguita dal vivo e installazioni sonore, creando paesaggi sonori densamente strutturati e narrazioni sonore. È interessata a situazioni di ascolto spaziale, utilizzando diffusori multipli e sistemi di feedback, lavorando in situ con l’ambiente circostante. Fa parte del team artistico di Q-O2, spazio di lavoro di musica sperimentale e arte sonora a Bruxelles. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto alla mostra collettiva Forte Biennale 01, Fortezza / Franzensfeste (2024) e ha esibito a numerosi festival internazionali: Sound of Stockholm Festival (2023); SOMA, Città del Messico (2023); Archipel Festival, Ginevra (2023).
Caroline Profanter ha partecipato alla mostra Unteroberwasser (20 luglio – 31 agosto 2025), a cura di Simone Mair e Lisa Mazza (BAU), nell’ambito del progetto Kunst in der Kartause, in collaborazione con il Kulturverein Schnals.
Nel contesto del programma pubblico della mostra, Caroline ha condotto un laboratorio volto a esplorare nuovi modi di percepire il suono e le vibrazioni.
Ispirato alla vita dei monaci certosini—che praticano una vita di silenzio consapevole—il laboratorio ha posto una domanda fondamentale: Che suono aveva il silenzio in passato, e che suono ha oggi?
Attraverso l’uso sperimentale di microfoni, apparecchiature di registrazione e l’architettura acustica dello spazio, insieme ad ausili tecnici come i microfoni direzionali, il laboratorio ha aperto nuove prospettive sull’interazione tra esseri umani, suono e spazio. I e le partecipanti hanno costruito microfoni a contatto, realizzato registrazioni ambientali e, successivamente, ascoltato collettivamente i suoni catturati a Certosa / Karthaus.
